The Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah has announced the passing of two individuals, Bonnie and Kenneth Johnston, with arrangements and memorial tree planting services available to friends and family.

Graveside inurnment for Bonnie will be held at Glacier Memorial Gardens in the spring. Family and friends are invited to share tributes online, and condolences/tributes can be sent free of charge. In lieu of flowers, it would be nice to remember Bonnie by hugging a kid, wearing your favorite jewelry that sits in a box, shopping till you drop, and ending the day with a cup of your favorite hot tea flavored with honey.

Bonnie was born on February 21, 1950, to Elwyn (Mutt) and Mary (Ann) Mateka, joining an older brother, Gary, at the family home in Columbia Falls. She attended schools in Columbia Falls and graduated from CFHS before earning her teaching degree from the University of Montana.

In her years as a kindergarten teacher, Bonnie's heart never graduated, but she held many good memories for her students. After retiring, she moved to St. George with her husband, Greg Ratterman, where they enjoyed the warm weather and sunshine atop the red rocks overlooking the city.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Greg, at the family home, and nephew, Terry, and family in Spokane. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mutt and Ann, and brother, Gary. She is also survived by countless children who loved her and called her 'teacher.'

In addition to Bonnie's passing, the Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah has also announced the passing of Kenneth Johnston on Monday, March 27. More information about his services can be found online.
